Hello!

My name is Daniela Vidovic, and by profession, I am Serbian literature and language teacher, computer programmer and instructional designer. When my family and I came to Canada in 1999th, I could not teach Serbian language (or teach at all) so I decided to go back to school and obtain Computer Programmer diploma.

However, programming job meant spending eight hours a day in front of the screen, with no much contact with people, and I again went back to school - masters in Educational Communications and Technology enabled me to put together two things - my passion for education and my knowledge of computers.

This website will, hopefully enable me to go back to my first professional love - Serbian literature and language.

The main reason to create this website was the realization that there are not enough schools of Serbian language for our children in diaspora, and first hand experience of assimilation of the language - our children are forgetting their mother language, and becoming speakers of languages of the countries they live in. At the other hand, existing schools of Serbian language and culture in diaspora are on their own - they do not have materials, curriculums and usually create their own, the best they can.

This website offers possibilities of collaboration, systematization and sharing...

In addition, there are a number of non-native speakers of Serbian language and new learners who want to learn Serbian as a second language. I hope that this website will be useful to them too.
